Description

Organic rye berries for home millers who want fresh rye flour, not a bag of pre-ground product that has already lost aroma.

These are cleaned whole grain rye berries (also called rye grain berries or rye berry grain). They are the intact kernel: bran, germ, and endosperm still together. Mill them when you bake and you get whole grain rye flour with the tang, color, and fiber rye is known for. Store-bought rye flour starts fading the day it is ground. Whole rye berries stay stable for months in a cool, dry pantry.

Buy rye berries here in paper bags from 7.5 lb up through bulk rye berries at 48 lb. The 48 lb size ships free to all 50 states. If you are looking for rye berries for sale in a size that actually feeds a household mill, this is the listing.

What you get

  • USDA certified 100% organic rye berries. Premium food-grade, cleaned on air, screens, shakers, and a color sorter.
  • Grown without use of herbicides, pesticides, or manufactured fertilizers. No glyphosate was used on this product, and we use a 3rd party to test the rye berries to confirm they are free of it.
  • Packaged in sturdy paper bags so the grain does not sit against plastic.
  • Ready to mill for rye bread, sourdough, pumpernickel-style loaves, crackers, or a rye blend in wheat dough. A little fresh-milled rye goes a long way in flavor.
  • Also works cooked as a whole grain in salads, pilafs, and soups, or for sprouting.

We recommend milling your own flour. The nutrients, oils and aroma stay in the berry until milled. Visit our Grain Mills page for the mills we use and recommend. If you need more than household volume, ask about bulk or wholesale pricing over 1,000 lb.

Your order is covered by our 100% satisfaction money-back guarantee.

Certified 100% Organic and Glyphosate Free

All of this rye is grown without herbicide, pesticide, or manufactured fertilizer. That includes no Roundup, no 2,4-D, and no fulvic acid sprays used as a stand-in. We test the berries so the “glyphosate free” claim is not just a farming practice. It is a lab result.

Rye, I like to add it to sourdough starter. And also to "focaccia" bread etc. Actually sometimes if I am making bread or focaccia I like to mix a little of various grains.

  1. The Rye has really enhanced our dinner rolls. Excellent quality.

  2. Packaged well and fast delivery

  3. Rye berries I purchased are quite good, thanks for growing food for us! I like the 3-layer paper bags in which this product was thoroughly packaged. The shipping was fast. The only hiccup that slowed me down while placing my order on the website was that the system kept telling me to fill in a phone number (which I already put). It turned out, it wanted me to check the box that I’m a human at the low right corner.

  4. I LOVE all of the spelt, einkorn, emmer, hard wheats, rye, I have purchased! I make sour dough bread, muffins, pancakes and regular yeast bread too! It is incredibly healthy and better than taking vitamins by far! I am very grateful to this Ancient Grains co for all their hard work. I will keep you in my prayers, so everything on the farm goes well! Thank you!!

  5. It came quickly and ready to mill. Very clean.
